ClearContext changes a bit too much
Whenever I find out about a cool new way to try an simplify my life, especially my email, I’m always game. So I took a stab at ClearContext, which I stumbled across on Scoble’s blog.
Promising idea, but like so many productivity tools, it forces a rather substantial change in the way I organize my workflow. Perhaps I’m looking for a magic bullet, but I don’t want to relearn how to work again.
It does use a form of tagging, which is nice. Although I’d like to see the option to assign multiple tags – say “project a” and “budget”.
No real verdict on ClearContext, then. Just I’m too set in my unproductive ways, apparently. :)

Kevin – thanks for posting information and a feature suggestion for ClearContext Inbox Manager. Jason Clarke had a similar reaction to yours re: views. If you like the idea of topics, automated filing and color-coding, but just can’t get used to the idea of having your inbox re-arranged, check out this post on changing ClearContext’s views: http://blog.clearcontext.com/2005/03/clearcontext_re.html .
Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you as you continue to try out the product and feel free to send me any additional feedback that you might have. Thanks.

I have no idea what made me think of this post today. Anyway, last month we released version 2 of ClearContext. I’d like to invite you to check it out. One of the bigger enhancements made was the addition of new views, some of which change the Inbox a little bit less. Of particular note, we can now present messages color-coded in date received order, but threaded – meaning that all messages in the same conversation stick together. If you’re still interested, this might be just what you’re looking for to ease into our Outlook productivity system. If you have the chance to try it out, please let me know how it works out.
Take Care,
Brad.
Hey Brad – thanks for commenting on this. Only question – does it work at all with Outlook 2007 beta? I’m dogfooding it at work.
If so, I might give it another try.
We’re not officially supporting Office 2007 at this time, but there are several folks who are using us with generally good results (including some members of my team). Each subsequent release of CC will have increased O 2007 support built into the product. For more detail on our O’07 plans, see this post:

If you decide to try us out on O 2007, please let me know how it works out. I’m looking forward to hearing what you think about the new product.
