Interesting brief article from the Seattle PI on some Web 2.0 companies in the local area. Outlines two new ones I hadn’t heard of – Box.net, which seems to have scored some seed funding from Mark Cuban and is planning to provide some personal Web storage space online, and Sampa, a one-man shop right now that will provide some easy to use Web building blocks for small businesses.

Interesting both, but neither seems earth-shattering.

I’m more familiar with Judy’s Book which tries to blend local yellow page listings with social network recommendations. Neat idea, 100% dependent on network effects. When I’ve used it to date, it just hasn’t felt “sticky” enough to me. Not much keeps me coming back, although I suspect that will change if/when a critical mass of users starts posting area reviews. It’s one to watch.
