Moving on…to MSN

After a wonderful four years doing developer marketing for Microsoft – two years on community programs like INETA, and the last two on academic programs – it’s time for a change. Given MSN / Windows Live is apparently hiring like crazy, I thought it would be fun to get in on all the action (actually I just wanted to get a chance to hang out with Dare more…).
So as of Monday I’ll be working on community marketing for Search, Messenger, and Windows Live in general. Trying on some consumer marketing clothes for a change, after a career in IT Pro and developer marketing. Still sticking to my community roots though!
What does “community marketing” mean for Windows Live? Great question! Basically I get to work on cool projects like Search Champs, some of the new beta programs, building community affinity programs, and more. This all gives me blog fodder, so no doubt I’ll be posting boatloads up here, or possibly on a Spaces blog…jury is out on that. I am a wee bit sentimental about Seattleduck.
This also means most of my non-trivial collection of Visual Studio and MSDN logowear will be retired to a spare closet, to make way for butterfly and inevitable Live logowear. Of course, given the Windows connection now, I could always dig up my ancient NT4 logo stuff and be “retro-chic” around the office. Sweet.
And it means a move over to Red-West, that mythical land I’ve heard so much about but rarely visited until recently.
So another change in life, and a chance to get the ol’ passion re-energized! I am seriously jazzed up about the kinds of things I see happening inside MSN right now and the people I’ve met, and love the fact I’ll be part of it all.
Here goes…

Congrats on the move Kevin! I hope you see the huge impact you’ve had on the MSA program over the past few years. It’s truly a cool experience for students thanks to all of the work you and Tracy have done. Good luck with your new role and thanks for making the MSA program what it is today.
Congrats Kevin!
One of my favourite feed generators (ok, he’s a human called Kevin) has just landed a new job with MSN…
Thanks Chris, it’s been a real pleasure to work with all the SA’s over the past couple of years.
[...] Nothing quite like kicking off a new job with a trip to Paris! I’m off tomorrow for a couple days of planning meetings with my soon-to-be colleagues and agencies – definitely going to be a “drinking from the firehose” experience as I attempt to suck up as much knowledge about Windows Live, MSN, and current campaigns in the shortest time possible. [...]
Congratulations Kevin!
Don’t forget about us folks in the great white north of Canada. Unfortunately I’m a bit far from Microsoft, so they don’t recruit up here, but I can live vicariously through you. :)
