Now that I’ve made a change in my career path, I wanted to trumpet out to everyone that there is a FANTASTIC job opportunity available on my old team – my old job, marketing manager for the US student developer audience. This means Visual Studio and .NET, talking to and working with Computer Science and Engineering students, visiting college campuses, and so much more.

Plus you get to work with people like Daryll, Alfred, to name but a few.

I moved on not because the job wasn’t fantastic – it was the most fun I’ve had at Microsoft in the past 5 years, and the audience consists of incredibly passionate people. My move was in the vein of “been at this a few years, time for that next career step”. I can absolutely vouch for the incredible opportunity the student marketing job represents – lots of exec attention (people in the company know we need to win big there), good resources, a strong management chain, and like I noted, one of the most passionate (for and against Microsoft, which just adds to the challenge) audiences you will find anywhere.

Do you have strong software marketing experience? A technical background, preferably a CS, IT, or other engineering-related degree? Do you “get” how students think these days?

If so, let us know. Or feel free to email me direct at work and we’ll see where that leads.
