Falling in love with Pandora
After hearing so many people rave about Pandora, I finally fired up the browser to give it a shot, and I LOVE THIS THING. ‘Till now my music situation at worked involved a mixture of:
a. Firing up WMP and listening to random radio streams
b. Firing up iTunes on my work laptop and listening over and over to the few songs I have on there (99% of my music collection is on iTunes on my home PC). Or the occasional podcast of late.
c. Firing up my iPod Nano (black Matrix-looking one) and putting it on random play – either via headphones or the sweet Altec Lansing travel speakers w/ iPod dock I picked up.
Downside of all is frankly the lack of variety – I get stuck in an endless cycle of Dave Matthews, college rock, with some sprinkling of more recent stuff. Mostly out of laziness in putting together more updated playlists.
So Pandora is perfect – aside from the cap on # of times you can skip songs (what’s the deal on that??), it’s a fantastic way to explore new music or at least inject a bit of targeted variety into the grind of sitting at your desk churning PPTs.
As an aside – I also love their “Add this to your blog” page, loaded with blog sidebar items, badges, etc. Nice execution.
