Definition of passionate users: They make crop circles to celebrate your product
Two caveats:
1. These were college students, so by definition they have a hell of a lot more free time than most people (classes from 10am to 2pm…STRAIGHT?!? no way!). I’m not ripping on them for that…I’m jealous.
2. These were Beavers. Frickin’ Beavers. Really…what else is there to do in Corvallis?
That’s not to take away from how cool their passion is for Firefox. In fact, it’s the dream of anyone who has ever worked on a product – be they the marketing hack (like me), the devs, or the tech writers – to have a user community as fantastically passionate as the Firefox community is. Heck, I’m a devoted user (and fan) even though that is not entirely smiled upon by the people who cut my paycheck twice a month.
This really epitomizes what is so impressive about the loyalty and passion Firefox has instilled in their community – although it really was the Firefox community building off each other, with a few key folks stirring the post. True, some of it is assuredly passionate dislike for Microsoft and IE (this was after all a Linux UG who pulled this off), but it’s still a great and (obviously) very visible example of what every product team dreams of building in terms of community and passion.

And just to be cool and send a bit of love back to Windows Live, here is where Amity, OR is (on SR99W just south of McMinnville and NW of Salem, for anyone familiar with Oregon):
