iTunes just makes you smile
A couple great quotes:
Omar Shahine: iTunes 7 = Software that makes me happy…iTunes 7 is soo different from Windows Media Player. Each facet if iTunes is optimized for that specific scenario. Things like finding, downloading and subscribing to Podcasts is fantastic. Flipping through my CDs is finally more fun then it was back in High School when I used to go through my CD collection looking for something to listen to… connecting and managing an iPod is even better than it was before. Bliss.
Mike Torres: “You know though, Apple is truly at the top of its game these days. Even more so than a year ago – or 4+ years ago when I bought my first-gen 10GB iPod. As much as I critique their lock-in model, they never cease to wow me with how much they’re able to do, and the innovation and quality bar they set for others. I applaud them.”
I agree – I installed iTunes 7 at home last night, and immediately started loading up my Nano with ESPN football podcasts for the flight down to San Francisco. The browsing and discovery process for podcasts and videocasts in iTunes is the best available, period. Nothing comes close. It makes it a joy to explore and subscribe to them. While I was at it, I loaded up about 50 recent pictures of my daughter simply because the new iPOD management UI is so simple to use. And I agree with Omar (”I love this view…”) – check out the music browsing screenshot in his blog post.
With the extensions of late into TV shows, music videos, and now movies (though limited), Apple is cementing iTunes as the premier place to experience media on your computer. Microsoft and others have a long, long road ahead to try and catch up.
