On the day of thunderous launch hype for Zune, Apple slips out this little bit of news that will bring joy to the frequent fliers of the world (via Techmeme):

CUPERTINO, California—November 14, 2006—Apple® today announced it is teaming up with Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United to deliver the first seamless integration between iPod® and in-flight entertainment systems. These six airlines will begin offering their passengers iPod seat connections which power and charge their iPod’s during flight and allow the video content on their iPod’s to be viewed on the their seat back displays.

Very cool. The recharging isn’t that exciting as I can mostly do that anyway through my laptop, and in any case my Nano’s charge lasts for most intercontinental flights. But the video integration is a sweet idea, depending on the display quality. Maybe it’s time for an iPod video?
