Some months back, I took a new job, got a renewed focus and energy on my career, and saw my blogging frequency go straight to pot. Part of the problem I think was the direction my old blog went - seattleduck.com was an odd mixture of work/tech/marketing and random personal musings, which led to a lack of focus and freedom to be creative on both fronts.
My first public blog post (I had a private one on Blogger back in 2003) happened on December 17, 2004 and was titled “Blogging about blogging“. I know, innovative. 1000+ posts later, and I finally ran out of steam.
So SeattleDuck as my “personal online brand” is largely buried, though all the posts will live on in archives so long as I can pay the hosting bills. In its place I’m going to take a stab at two projects:
- kevinbriody.net - a purely personal blog, that this RSS feed has now been remapped to. I’ll post about almost anything outside of the world of marketing, my day job.
- to be announced - a purely marketing blog. I have a sweet domain name burning a hole in my GoDaddy account, so I figured what the heck. When that goes up, I’ll post it here.
Other blogs and blog-ish projects I’m working on:
- thekbriodys.net - was a more detailed family photo blog, now mostly a blog-based landing page for my private Flickr photos (which are the majority).
- another to be announced (ooooh, suspense!) - a wiki-focused blog kind of in the spirit of Merlin Mann’s 5ives.
- BlogJunction - the staff blog at my work, where I just recently started contributing. As get closer to our relaunch this summer, that pace should pick up.
Plus I picked up on Twitter again - you can always follow me there.
So to all 300+ loyal readers that Feedburner still swears I have (ah, sure…), hopefully you’ll see me blogging a bit more again even if I do split the focus among a couple different feeds over time. I’m all about flexibility here folks…
Kevin
